Kelly Slater

Robert Kelly Slater ( 11 February of 1972 , Cocoa Beach , Florida , United States ) is a surfer professional eleven times winner of the world championship. He is also known by his nicknames Slater or Slats . Slater holds the record for winning the title eleven times World Champion ASP, including five straight from 1994 to 1998.

He is the youngest (20 years old) and the oldest (39) to win a world championship surfing. After winning his fifth title in 1997, Slater passed Australian legend Mark Richards as the surfer with more world championships in the history of surfing. In 2007 also reached the most wins in the history of the sport by winning the Boost Mobile Pro at Trestles , California . The previous record was possessed for Slater´s hero in childhood, three-time champion Tom Curren. In addition compete in the ASP World Tour , Slater has been involved in the X-Games in 2003 and 2004 . On October 3 of 2008 , Slater won his ninth world title in Basque Country , in the Billabong Pro Mundaka , Vizcaya , winning local surfer Eneko Acero in the third round, which will mathematically worth to win the Championship. The November 7, 2010 was the tenth world title by passing semis (which he gave the title mathematically) imposing Brazilian Adriano de Souza in the Rip Curl Pro Search in Puerto Rico. His eleventh world title would get in the Rip Curl Pro Search Somewhere in San Francisco, Ocean Beach (San Francisco), an unprecedented historic achievement makes him, at 39 and after two decades in a career full of successes, not only the youngest but also the oldest in achieving the coveted ASP world title.
